Those who mind their web sites bother –or should bother– about turning on all existing mechanisms to improve the positioning of his or her pages in the Search Engines lists.

This job is more complex each day and it is even more if we serve our pages from a CMS and, at this, Joomla! is not different. Diverse parameters like the number of HTTP request, sending a compressed page, using compressed images, minimize HTML code, styleheets and javascript, merge js and css files, etc. are being taken into account more intensely each day on to assess our site's position in the SEO listings.

The so many extensions that are available for Joomla is good news for all that use this system to build our web sites. Taking apart the standard security considerations we touched upon at the end of this article the amount of existing alternatives is what makes it big and really useful.

However, by design, not all types of extensions are the same. We know that there exist in three classes: components, modules and plugins, each contributing differently to the framework. They are so easy to install, that is is easy to turn use into abuse. And this is not a problem for components or modules or, at least, not a big one but in the case of plugins it may divert into a 'pluginitis', a serious disease of our system that can make it get sick.

artTree is a module for Joomla! 1.5 that allow you to show your existing articles in a hierarchical way. It is based on the work by JoniJnm but extends his work further expanding significantly its functionalities.
